ABOUT
Yael Magnes was born in 1975 in Jerusalem, Israel/Palestine to a family of artists.
In 2003, she acquired a degree in jewelry design from Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel. She won two distinction awards: the H. Stern Award for Jewelry Design, and the Shenkar Award for Excellence. Upon graduating, she exhibited her work as a winner of The America-Israel Cultural Foundation Award and subsequently opened an independent jewelry design studio in Tel Aviv.
Yael moved to NYC in 2005 to co-found the fashion handbag brand, Magnes Sisters, while also apprenticing for famed designer Ron Gilad. During that time she continued to develop her own conceptual jewelry designs.
In 2011, Yael established her independent jewelry brand, Yael Magnes Art Jewelry.
Yael gravitates towards creating one-of-a-kind objects, which explore the blurred lines between art and design. She is persistent in her search for a place where function, comfort, and imagination collide. Yael aspires to spark thought and dialogue through her work as well as excite, inspire, and bring happiness to those who view and experience her art.
